A chamber orchestra that aims for high standards, whilst still
recognising that performing music is fun!
Cotswold Camerata is a chamber orchestra which was formed in 2012 by Ian Higginson, in order for its players
to perform public concerts to a high standard, whilst still having fun.
Their first public performances were given whilst on their first concert tour in Belgium.
The orchestra is friendly and exciting and it consists of a group of trained and enthusiastic professional,
semi-professional and good amateur orchestral musicians, who live and work in the Cotswold area.
The standard of the players ranges from Grade 8 through to music degree / diploma level
and they are ably led by Ben Hall.
Cotswold Camerata aims to perform about three concerts per year, yet there is not too much rehearsal commitment
expected from the players.
The members meet for a social / planning session, followed by two rehearsals prior to each of the
three concerts or occasional concert tours.
The concerts are held in different venues principally within the Cotswold area, whilst the chosen
programmes are appealing, varied and usually focus on repertoire from either the classical period,
or music with chamber orchestra size scoring.
The Orchestra is delighted that Professor Ian Tracey (international concert organist & conductor),
John Lenehan (international concert pianist & composer) and Professor Michael Bochmann (internationally renowned Violinist), have kindly agreed to become patrons to the Cotswold Camerata.
Cotswold Camerata aims to include a retiring collection in aid of charities at our concerts and the charity
we choose to support is always chosen by the members of Cotswold Camerata.
